Cleaner Heat, Cheaper Bills: Help Pass the NY HEAT Act!

All New Yorkers deserve safe, clean, and comfortable homes. But outdated laws have rigged the system, forcing us to continue burning expensive, toxic fracked gas.

Low-income New Yorkers are being slammed by volatile gas prices and high energy bills, paying three times more of their income on energy bills than non-low-income households. New Yorkers are spending $200 million a year to subsidize expanding the gas system and billions more on replacing pipes while the fossil fuel industry rakes in record profits.

The NY Home Energy Affordable Transition (HEAT) Act un-rigs the system, freeing our state to invest in clean, healthy, zero-emissions buildings and thermal energy networks. NY HEAT would make energy bills more affordable for low- and middle-income families, saving them money for necessities like rent, groceries, and medicine.

Tell Governor Hochul and the Legislature to move beyond the old laws holding New York in the dirty fossil-fueled past and into the clean, healthy, and affordable future we deserve. Tell them to include the NY HEAT Act in the final budget!
