The burning of fossil fuels in our buildings is responsible for one-third of New York’s greenhouse gas emissions. Not only are fossil-fueled buildings harming our planet, but they’re forcing New Yorkers to suffer volatile fossil gas prices and nearly 19% of childhood asthma in New York State can be attributed to gas stove use.

Passing the NY Home Energy Affordable Transition (HEAT) Act and the All-Electric Building Act will enable us to reduce the climate and air pollution from our buildings, save New Yorkers billions of dollars, and protect the respiratory health of thousands of New Yorkers.

Governor Hochul committed to affordable, climate-friendly all-electric buildings in her State of the State address and showed that she’s serious about saving New Yorkers money and moving toward a clean energy future with her executive budget. Now, we need her and our state legislative leaders to follow the science and protect our health, wallets, and planet by passing NY HEAT and the All-Electric Building Act this session!
